Going away camping is one of the most exciting bits of our programme. Every young person gets the chance to go on two weekends away each year usually to our own Glengoyne Lodge.
Explorers headed off to camp first with their weekend in February taking on a ‘school of rock’ theme. All the Explorers perfected their best guitar playing (poses!) and took on a number of challenges throughout the weekend.
It was then the turn of Scouts in March – each Patrol went away on camp and they competed with each other to see how many ways they could cross the River Clyde. Setting a new record on the second weekend they managed to find over 25 ways to get across the river – can you think of all of them?
They finished off their weekend meeting up with Claire, who is running a project with us in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers to build a nature walk from Glengoyne Lodge down to the pond at Auchengillan.
At the end of March Scout Network headed east to Innerwick near Dunbar for their spring weekend. They visited the National Museum of Flight and got to go on a (very brief!) trip on Concorde along with seeing lots of fighter jets and other planes. They rounded off with a fantastic display of baking skills in the Great British (Network) Bake Off.
