Scout Leader receives Commendation on HMS Ark Royal - 08-06-2010
One of our own Scout Leaders, Malcolm Black has been awarded the Chief Scout's Commendation for Good Service - in honour of over 15 years dedicated service to disabled Scouting in Glasgow.
Malcolm is currently serving as a Marine Engineering Officer in the Royal Navy, posted to Ark Royal, but this did not stop him from receiving his Award.
Speaking on board the Navy's flagship Aircraft Carrier, Malcolm commented "This award means a lot to me and it a real privilege to have my efforts and dedication recognised in this way."
Malcolm has served with the Group in many different roles from a helper with the Scout section, through to becoming Scout Leader, Scout Network Leader and is now an active member of our Summer Camp team despite being in the Navy.
His Award has also made it onto the news pages of the Royal Navy.
Congratulations to Malcolm and hopefully he can find some 'shore' time to be awarded his Commendation in person.
