1971 - Norway
In 1968 after our return from our expedition to Switzerland, it was agreed that a camp abroad would be held every three years. These camps would be open to all disabled Scouts from Glasgow.

Through 1969 and 1970 funds were raised, preliminary programmes were prepared and Norway was chosen. Two visits were made to Norway to finalise camp sites, medical arrangements, the charter flight etc, and an invitation was extended to Denmark, scene of our first foreign camp in 1965, to join us with a patrol of disabled Scouts.
Our final numbers were detailed as:
Boys from Disabled Troops in Glasgow...............45
Boys from Disabled Troops in Denmark..............7
Helpers...........................................................30
Cooks.............................................................5
Scouters.........................................................13
Norwegian Staff...............................................3
Total in camp...................................................103

Throughout the course of the week, activities included wide games (with Scouters not speaking English!), campfires, elections of a Prime Minister, visit to Fredrikstad, ice cream from the Royal Norwegian Army, viking day, visit to Tonsberg and Oslo and a day hike.
The retrospect comment from one boy in camp sums up the success of the fortnight "this has been the most enjoyable camp and fabulous trip we have ever had, and is filled with the most pleasant memories for me and I am sure everyone present" - Calum McCauley.
