Our Scout Network members spent some time on Monday night thinking of all the arguments for the referendum in September. They were divided into two teams and came up with an opening and a closing statement each and then some questions and rebuttals for the opposing team.
David, Ben, Anthony, Jethro, Michael, John and Liam kicked things off with their arguments for staying in the UK. Then it was the turn of Jordan, Aidan, Owen, Gerard, Kurtis, Chris and Andrew to argue for independence.
There were many tricky questions to answer – what currency would we use? How would schools and colleges be funded? Would hospital operations be the same? Would I need a new passport? What about nuclear weapons? We also had an amusing debate about windfarms!
Both sides did very well and everyone was encouraged to make sure no matter what decision they make, that they go out and vote in September!
