Getting safely back to Scouts – an update

This is a copy of an email sent to all the parents/carers of our young people this evening:

I hope that this finds you doing okay and that you had a great summer, despite the circumstances.

Tonight all our volunteers would usually be getting together to plan everything ready for Scouts starting back next week. Unfortunately we have taken the decision that this is not possible quite yet.

We have been reviewing all the guidance and regulations and at the same time considering the quality of the experience we could offer at the moment and have concluded that for now, Scouts cannot restart.

As you know from all sorts of things at the moment this is a moving picture and it’s likely things will change back and forth over the next few weeks and months.

Our risk framework will be reviewed each month and we will keep you posted of any changes to it. We hope in due course we will be able to offer some sort of activities although they will feel quite different to our usual approach.

Whilst we are thinking about all of this we would really value your thoughts.

Please click here to complete a short survey.

In particular we’re keen to hear how the return to school has gone (if this applies) and if your son/daughter has returned to any other clubs or respite activities. This will help us plan our own approach so any information you can provide would be gratefully received.

As ever, please keep in touch and let us know how you’re getting on!

Best wishes

Michael Shanks
Group Scout Leader (lead volunteer)
