We're recruiting for volunteers aged 14 to 18 now!
We're looking for volunteers aged 14 to 18 to help us out!
Everyone should be able to have an adventure! With your help, we can make sure young people in Glasgow with disabilities can take part too.
We’re looking for enthusiastic, caring and patient young people aged 14 to 18 to join us now.
We meet on Monday nights and support around 70 young people with a range of disabilities. We have a team of young people aged 14 to 18 who work individually with a disabled young person to help them take part in all the activities.
In return we’ll provide award winning training and support, fantastic CV opportunities and above all else you’ll leave each week with a real sense of achievement about what you’ve done.
Volunteers don’t need any past experience working with disabled people but you should enjoy working with young people and be enthusiastic and patient. We’ll provide training and you’ll never be on your own – experienced volunteers are always on hand to support you.
Some questions (and answers!)
Where / when do you meet?
We meet most Monday nights from 7pm to 9.30pm in Newlands, Cathart, Netherlee and in the west end near the University of Glasgow.
Do I need any experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any experience to volunteer. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds – the thing that unites us all is a willingness to get involved and have fun. We’ll provide induction and ongoing training and support.
Do I need to be a Scout to volunteer?
Not at all – most of our volunteers have never been in the Scouts when they join us.
Why only ages 14 to 18?
We welcome volunteers of all ages! Get in touch with us if you aren’t 14 to 18. However we specifically recruit 14 to 18 year olds because it allows us to match similar aged young people with disabilities to make our group as inclusive as possible.
Do I need to help every week?
No, we understand people have busy lives, so we offer flexible volunteering. We do expect a certain commitment from you – usually at least two Mondays a month – and you must complete the mandatory training with us but otherwise we can be flexible, particularly around exam times or other busy times of the year.
I'm interested, what do I do now?
You just need to fill in your contact details below and one of our volunteers will get back in touch with you soon. We have an information evening on Monday 2nd September from 7pm to 8.30pm in Newlands South Church, Riverside Road where you can find out more. We’ll send you more details about this when you complete the form below.
