Young people with disabilities are welcome to join the Group at any time. We exist to provide one to one support for young people with more complex needs. If we think your child might be better suited in a Scout Group local to you, with appropriate support, we will help you to facilitate that where possible.
We have a joining process which includes a home visit from two of our volunteers so we can understand your individual support needs and make sure we can provide whatever one to one support you need each week.
We primarily support young people with physical and sensory needs – including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy and visual and hearing impairments. This doesn’t mean we are exclusive to these conditions, it’s just where our expertise lies. This list is far from exhaustive so please fill in the form below if you would like more information or just to have a chat with one of our volunteers.
Our volunteers are experienced in supporting young people with physical disabilities including epilepsy management, gastrostomy feeding and personal/incontinence care.
If you would like to join our volunteer team – as a regular helper or on one of our support teams please click here to see our volunteering pages.
Update June 2020: we aren't currently meeting due to the coronavirus situation, however you can still send in your details and we'll get in touch with you when we start back. We have waiting lists in all our sections except Beavers (girls and boys aged 6 and 7) but you can still get in touch and we'll find you a place as soon as we can.
