Background of the role
Each week we transport around half of our young people to Scouts using a fleet of minibuses. We pick up and drop back off young people across the city of Glasgow.
The drivers and organisation of the minibus is all organised centrally, but we require an additional adult volunteer to be the ‘escort’ – an assistant in the bus to support the young people if they need any help during the journey and to make sure the young people get on and off the bus safely.
Once the young people are at their hall for the evening’s programme you are free to join the other transport assistants for a cuppa until the bus back or you can get involved in the programme yourself – whatever you feel more comfortable doing.
This is an interesting role that lets you get to know the young people really well and ensure every young person has the opportunity to access Scouting.
Details of the role
We meet every Monday night (except for school holiday Mondays). The meetings start at 6.30pm and finish at 8pm with approximately one hour of travel time before and after. You will be picked up and dropped back off at home if you live within the geographical area below.
